Methodology (Selecting and Analyzing Values, Skills and Competences)
The Methodology for applying characteristics such as values, competences and skills is created as a short introduction for all target groups covered by the project: educators and trainers in adult prisons, to understand the core importance of storytelling and story-based methodology in education.
It has been created to better understand the Manual (Selecting and Analyzing Values, Skills and Competences ).
It will also list out the benefits of this method and which aspects we are focusing on in the Stories4wings project, aiming to facilitate prison education that helps inmates develop skills, values and personal competencies, thereby increasing their chances of reintegrating into society.
Learning that is embedded in practice brings about lasting change, making a positive impact both in prison and after release.

Manual:
Selecting and Analyzing Values, Skills, and Competences
This Manual presents a structured, story-based methodology to support adult education for adult learners in correctional facilities, fostering critical values, skills, and competencies essential for inmates’ personal growth and social reintegration.
Through carefully selected values/skills and competences, the approach enhances reflection, provides empathy, and draws inmates into an active learning experience.
We have selected the most essential values, skills, and competences, such as resilience, teamworking, ability to cope with social exclusion, vocational skill development, self-awareness, active citizenship, critical thinking, and technology literacy. For each value, skill, and competence, the Manual explores the consequences of applying it and not applying it.
The Manual discusses the impact of these values, skills, and competences on inmates both during their time in prison and after their release. For each of the values/skills/competences covered in the different stories, we aim to achieve a specific impact, all in accordance with the objectives of our project.

These values/skills/competences do not only seek immediate change but also lasting change, contributing to the integral growth of the participants and their social reintegration process. We expect each of the developed values, competences, and skills to have an impact both inside and outside of prison.
