Young people against racism and xenophobia: Building bridges between Kenya and Spain

ERASMUS+ 2025-DE02-KA210-ADU-000363452

The initiative aims to promote equality, inclusion, and mutual understanding between Europe and Africa, while addressing the persistent challenges of racism and discrimination in both regions. In this project, our organization collaborates with the Salama Self-Help Foundation in Nairobi.

The project focuses on educating, raising awareness, and empowering young people in both countries to build a future free of racism and xenophobia. Between October 2025 and March 2026, participating youth between the ages of 18 and 35 will take part in mixed-method activities to foster critical thinking about stereotypes and promote intercultural dialogue through innovative digital tools such as the Metaverse.

The project

The program is structured in three phases, each representing a key element of the project’s objectives. Phase 1 includes online activities held simultaneously in Kenya and Spain, such as interactive seminars on the Metaverse and online exhibition halls to share information and ideas on racism and xenophobia. Phase 2 consists of in-person exchanges between the AIFED and Salama Self-Help Foundation teams to deepen cooperation and understanding. Phase 3 focuses on the creation of freely accessible educational materials, including an e-book presenting the project’s main objectives and articles featuring stories and reflections from participants. Promoting the project through the institution’s websites and social media will ensure the continuity of its results and inspire future initiatives.
